I have always felt like I grew up with a
different point of view than most people. It always seemed like I was
noticing things that nobody around me would see, or take the time to see.
I like to live life like its the only life that I will live because I
believe it is. I want things to be right and thats how I got into
photography. I learned when I started taking pictures, that the pictures reflected the mood that I was in, and it gave me a way to express how I feel and how things are going in my life. When I'm down, I usually take black and white pictures or darker pictures. When I'm happy they are usually crisp and fresh feeling like the one below. Also, I have always loved to travel. Whether it's just a short trip or a cross-country journey, it's always fun for me. There is always a new person to meet, or a new story to hear. Every different place has a different point of view and a new feeling, and the things that you see along the way make up three quarters of the trip. Some people have never seen some of the scenery that most of us just pass by without noticing every day, and I like to capture those scenes for other people to see and experience. I believe that several things make up a good photograph....yeah, every good picture has to have the right lighting, or the right angle, or something like that, but the most important thing that I think a good picture has to have is feeling. Every picture has its own mood. Even family snapshots have feelings behind them. I always try to express how I felt taking the picture, in the picture that I took. If I look at a picture that I took and don't get a feeling from it, then I won't use it. Take that picture of me at the right for instance. I almost threw it away because it looked really weird, but I kept it, thinking I could at least use it for something. One day I sat down on my computer and played with it, trying to get the right feeling. Now it has a feeling of calmness to me. Before I made it blue and and zoomed, it just looked like I was constipated and ugly. Now it looks like im ugly and blue...No seriously, it has a mood now, and that is what I was looking for. Another thing that always inspires me to take pictures is music. Just like pictures, each song has its own mood and whatever song is playing inspires my mood for taking pictures. A fast song makes me want to take pictures that show motion, and a slow song makes me want to take black and white pictures. Country music makes me want to take historic pictures, and Christian music makes me want to take sunset pictures and so on.... Finally I have my friends and family to thank for always being there and understanding that I like to go against the flow sometimes. I don't think any of them realize how much I appreciate all the help and motivation they have given me. Thanks everyone!! -Patrick
