I always
thought looking into people's workplaces was an interesting
idea, so I thought I would share mine.
I work at the local grain terminal as a grain
grader/computer guru.
The grain terminal here is one of only 6 in the
nation that has the capabilities of loading and unloading as
much grain simultaneously as we do. It is
a small elevator capable of storing only 3 million bushels,
but it is completely computerized and it is common to bring
in more than 50,000 bushels of grain per day.
All that grain is then dispatched to the Gulf
of Mexico or Mexico on a 110 car (440,000 bushel) train once
every two-four weeks brought in by BNSF.
I only have a few pictures at the moment, but I
will add more as I take them, so check back often! |

but this part was built in 1955 and is still
used on a daily basis. |

| The new
bins or what we call the Jump Forum. . The
closest one is capable of holding 620,000
bushels of grain, that's 37,200,000 pounds of
grain. The rest can hold 470,000 bushel a piece.
